Born at EPFL, built
for
electrification

NovaMea is developing next-generation technologies and devices for electrochemical energy storage and conversion. We are connecting the dots for energy sovereignty by developing physical solutions to electrification. We have created a universal materials platform that produces novel membranes for electro-recycling (e.g., Li recycling), green hydrogen production, and long-duration energy storage by flow batteries - and an AI platform to accelerate the development and validation of these novel technologies.

Our history

SINCE 2023

NovaMea SA is a spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (in French, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, EPFL). The technologies of NovaMea are based on more than ten years of cutting-edge research and development in the laboratory of Prof. Xile Hu, co-founder and the first Chairman of the Board of NovaMea. The company was founded in early 2023.

In astronomy, a nova is the sudden appearance of a new star. We aspire to be a new star in green energy technologies.

The core of electrolyzers and fuel cells. Low-cost, scalable, efficient MEAs are our key innovation.

Together they form NovaMea - the new star built on the membrane at the heart of clean electrochemistry.

THE EDELWEISS 

At the center is the edelweiss, Switzerland's national flower - signifying the Swiss origin of our technologies.

THE MEMBRANE

At the heart of the edelweiss, a colored rectangle represents the membrane, NovaMea's core technology.

THE NUCLEUS

The rectangle is surrounded by a circle representing the nucleus of hydrogen, the element at the center of our focus.

THE ELECTRON

Outside the edelweiss, a larger circle carries a colored dot - the hydrogen electron orbiting its nucleus. Together these echo our core focus: green hydrogen technologies.
